Summer Psalms - The First Two Days

The reading of the Psalms this Summer began yesterday (June 1) and already each Psalm is providing food for the soul.

Psalm 1 is a comparison of two ways of living - one lived righteously and one lived wickedly. What strikes me about this Psalm is the passion and desire for God's Word that feeds our faith. We are to meditate or chew on the law of the Lord.

Psalm 2 is a messianic Psalm hailing the coming Christ. "Blessed are all who take refuge in him." Vs. 12.

Psalm 3 is a Psalm of David for the morning. David teaches us here how to have trust in God as we face our fears and our enemies. We are to face each new day with confidence that the Lord is a "shield around" us..."bestow(ing) glory and lift(ing) up our heads."

Psalm 4 is a Psalm of David for the evening. Vs. 6 is one of my favorite verses. Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. We are to bear witness to the goodness of God in Christ as the light of Christ shines in us through the Holy Spirit.

May your reading of the Psalms nourish your soul and bear fruit in your living.

Nothing like the Psalms to feed the soul, teach us to pray, and show us that we share ANYTHING with God. Thank you, Brian, for bringing us back there!
